HOME

Our main lodge  measures approximately 80' X 30' with  additional attached living quarters of 40' X 28', to allow for larger groups if the need was required. The lodge is very modern with cheerful dining and lounge areas and  a beautiful view of Lake Douglas and surrounding countryside. We have diesel lighting and refrigeration, several shower facilities, hot & cold running water, flush toilets, Satellite T.V. and V.C.R. The food is among the best obtainable and communication with the outside world is possible via a remote telephone system. In addition to the main lodge and additional living quarters, we also have an outside cabin area for those who would wish to have additional quiet or privacy. We also have a full scale meat cutting facility on site including a walk in cooler/freezer unit. The lodge can accommodate parties of 20+ guests, but we normally restrict hunting parties to 4-6 hunters.

Equipment and Physical Condition: We hunt not only from the lodge itself, but we also use other smaller cabin sites which allow us to hunt further from the lodge, stay overnight and return to the lodge the next day. (This option may be offered during the hunt but it is the hunters choice if they want to go to a off site location). Our equipment includes several 4 X 4 trucks,  A.T.V.’s, 8 wheel Argo, Motorized Boats, and Canoes. With such a wide range of equipment we can offer a variety of hunts to hunters with various physical conditions.

Airport Pick-up: Pick-up and return at Gander International airport is included in your hunt. Similarly, if you drive to Newfoundland we will arrange a meeting point for transport to the lodge, plus you will see miles of beautiful scenery on route to central Newfoundland. We will also provide driving instructions prior to your trip and storage of your vehicle, if you wish.

Fall Season Dates: Rifle & Black Powder hunting for Moose, Caribou, and Black Bear begins on the second Saturday in September with the special bow hunt only, in our management area, beginning two weeks prior to the rifle season.  Bow hunting is also permitted during the gun season.  A hunting week- Sunday to Saturday is of a 5 ½ day duration because of no hunting on Sunday, but we are flexible. We can also offer an extended  package.

Other Species Available: Grouse, Ducks, Geese, Snowshoe Hare, Trout and Salmon.

Fishing: Fishing is available during the bow hunt season , as well as during the spring and summer months. Bow hunters may fish with no additional cost ( licence cost excepted)

Client / Guide Ratio: The hunter  to guide ratio is 1:1 or 2:1 depending on your preference. Baited Spring Black Bear hunts may be 2:1 guide to hunter ratio.

Taxidermy and Meat Processing: We can arrange taxidermy work and meat freezing, cutting, and packaging is readily available at very reasonable cost. Full cooler storage and butcher facilities on site.

Archery: We accommodate archery, as well as rifle or black powder, at any time during hunting season, but the special bow hunt preceding the rifle season by two weeks allows for prime hunting and excellent stalking.

Weather: The average weather temperature during Sept. is 55F, Oct. is 45 F, and Nov. is 38

What to Bring:  Personal effects such as knee high rubber boots, good hunting and rain gear, are important. We recommend a sleeping bag and flashlight  to allow for overnight travel to an out camp if such a trip is planned. Also, don’t forget your camera as our wildlife may give you that great photo opportunity.

We believe we offer the supreme hunting experience. We offer a honest hunt with hard working personnel that work as a team. We try to give every hunter a hunt that they would be happy to recommend to their friends, and we depend on it!
